Well after several weeks and was finally able to get a Saturday and finished putting in the insulation.  We now have I am estimating R-45 or 50 now in the attic.  Hopefully this will lower our bills even further in conjunction with the hybrid heat system we had installed.  We are still waiting for the first bills to arrive from the gas and electric companies to compare with our previous bills.  I am looking for a savings on heating and air-conditioning of around $800 per year.  The system so far runs great although I'm a little confused as to what the setpoint is for the switchover from gas to heat pump is.  I have seen the heat pump running as low as 25°F in the gas furnace running at 35°F so there must be some other settings in the algorithm other than just the temperature outside.  The system is very quiet and keeps the house very comfortable.
