2007 corolla air conditioner takes 5-10 minutes for actual cold air to come out. What is the problem?

by jstroud on May 17, 2010

I turn on the air conditioner and only hot to room temperature air comes out for 5-10 minutes. Eventually, 9 times out of 10 cold air will eventually come out. Don’t know much about cars, I got a toyota because they are supposed to be (mostly) maintenance free. Thanks!

freon is low. many toyota’s use ‘small molecule freon’ which lends itself to escaping seals more than regular neon.

Whoever told you Toyotas were maintenance free is totally wrong. As far as I am concerned there are no cars out there that never need to be maintained. It sounds like the freon in your ac may be running out. All it takes is you take it to a shop and have them refill it. If your having other ac troubles then check out this troubleshooting guide:
