I am assuming you are talking about the outside condensing unit cover?
If so that’s a bad idea.
The job of the unit is to remove heat from inside and release it to the outside.
If its covered up it cannot release its heat.
It would be like covering up the radiator to your car and driving it around, the car would soon overheat.
The unit needs to pull air across the coil around the sides and force the air up and out the top. Covered this is impossible and would not work and would damage the unit depending on what kind of safety controls it has installed.
Don’t build anything over the top either it needs the space above it to exhaust the hot air up and out.
It would run much harder/hotter then usual, if it was on all day, then you may have shorten its life, an hour-not so bad.
